IBPI is the largest buyer’s group in the office equipment reseller community. Over 500 members receive annual rebate checks that have collectively totaled millions of dollars over the last several years.
Their first board meeting of the year was held last week at Trump Doral Resort where former board members welcomed rookie arrival John Eckstrom of Novatech (Carolina Business Equipment) and said goodbye to Kevin Van Kannel of UTEC, who is rotating off after his three years of service.
Board members include:
Kyle Elliott of Spectrum Technologies, President
Rob Richardson of Allied Document Solutions & Services, VP
Doug Albregts, Marco
Jim Bodie, Copier Fax Business Technologies
Bob Evans, Function-4
Chad Schwartz, Imagine Technology Group
Chris Therriault, Budget Document Technology
Scott Vonderharr, Midwest Imaging Solutions
After a wonderful dinner celebrating the passing of the torch and Eckstrom’s return to the board, the group retired early as many were set to golf the Blue Monster the next day.
It is now with great sadness that I must report the end of an era. John Eckstrom’s 35-year-old seersucker shorts that have graced events we’ve all attended over the years were no match for Trump Doral. The course didn’t just chew us up, they destroyed the most iconic pair of shorts in the industry. Perhaps Bob Evans said it best, “It’s about time.”
We will be setting up a gofundme to raise money for a replacement pair of shorts for Mr. Eckstrom and we send him our condolences on his epic loss. You can see the shorts below moments before their tragic demise.
IBPI will kick off their first conference of the year April 3-5 leading into the BTA Spring Break event in Orlando.
We will see you there!
