Three months after a top exec at Xerox (NYSE: XRX) confirmed it was exploring “strategic options,” the Connecticut-based technology giant has notified the state of North Carolina that it plans to lay off 178 employees at its Cary facility.

“Unfortunately, we have made a difficult decision to close a unit dedicated to a single client at our Cary operations,” reads a statement from Xerox. “Other units at the Cary facility will continue without interruption. We realize this affects individuals, and every effort is being made to ensure that all employees are treated fairly.”
