Colne, Lancashire, UK – 23 February, 2015 The well established and highly regarded printed and plain folding carton manufacturing giant Kingston Carton has invested in advanced MIS software from Tharstern to help with its continual growth and maximise benefits to its customers.

Tharstern, a pioneering specialist software house with over 550 worldwide installations, will be providing its latest version of estimate PRO within Tharstern PRIMO for Kingston Carton. This includes built-in support for Esko’s ArtiosCAD Cad-X product. Using the CAD-X API, it offers a seamless integration between the two products.

With a direct link into the Esko Artios CAD library, parametric designs and layouts can be browsed and used to create fully function print production estimates that are JDF compliant.

Another key area for Kingston – a carton manufacturer covering all aspects of design, printing, carton conversion and finishing through to storage and distribution – is managing customer stock. Tharstern will be supplying a comprehensive set of modules to support the fulfilment side of the business, including sales order processing, multi-location stock, bill of materials, barcode stock control and scanning devices, plus production scheduling linked up with shop floor data terminals.

An additional important benefit of the PRIMO MIS will be JDF integration to manroland’s Printnet system, which will be of paramount importance to capture the print production costs within Kingston Carton’s production plant.

Details of the deal have been unveiled in the run-up to this week’s Packaging Innovations at the NEC, Birmingham, on February 25-26. At the show, Tharstern on Stand G26 will be explaining to customers and other show visitors how PRIMO helps businesses such as Kingston Carton manage sales, production, procurement and fulfilment efficiently by providing a ‘joined up’ workflow including JDF integrations to other vendors’ workflow solutions.

Arend Buitendam, Managing Director of Kingston Carton, said: “Reinvestment of our profits in latest technology is always at the heart of our business to continue our ongoing expansion. The management information system from Tharstern is part of this and will bring added benefits to the company and its customers. The company has demonstrated thoroughness and professionalism in the process and has taken the time to fully understand our requirements to develop this state-of-the-art system.”

Lee Ward, Sales Director of Tharstern, which has had its most successful year to date since a management buyout last July, said: “Kingston Carton is a perfect example of how companies are streamlining their sales, production, procurement and fulfilment processes through investing in our market-leading PRIMO system.

“At the Packaging Innovations show we are proud to be showing some of the latest features now released for the packaging sector, which will include the ease of integrating MIS into other workflows such as those, for example, used by other market-leaders that include Heidelberg, Esko and manroland.”
