Secure Release Here, confidential convenient printing, pull printing

The Secure Release Here® application of Pharos Blueprint® Enterprise takes printing to a new level by making it significantly more secure and convenient — and by giving users much more control over the printing process than they’ve ever had before.

With Secure Release Here no one needs to race to the printer to claim their confidential documents before someone else reads them. Print jobs wait for their owners. With Secure Release Here employees are no longer restricted to the printers located near their offices. They can release their print jobs at any Pharos-enabled device, wherever it’s located in the enterprise: 4 floors up, in another building, or in another city.

Here’s how it works. When users print documents on their computer, their jobs do not go directly to a printer. Instead, they are held in a special queue; encrypted and protected from malicious intent.

  1. Walk up to any Pharos-enabled printer and authenticate themselves by swiping their ID card
  2. Select and release jobs using the Pharos print release screen, and then collect their printouts

The Pharos-enabled printer could be an integrated multifunction printer (iMFP) or a printer connected to a Pharos Omega PS200 or Pharos Omega PS60.

Secure Release Here offers numerous benefits related to cost savings, sustainability, security and flexibility:

  • Save money by reducing print volumes, allowing confidential documents to be printed safely on cost-effective network printers, and eliminating the need for expensive 4-hour or same-day service (if a printer is down, users simply release their jobs at another printer)
  • Reduce printing waste because users release only the jobs they really need, unreleased jobs are eventually deleted by the system, and banner pages are unnecessary
  • Hold jobs until their owners arrive at the printer and release them
  • Ensure that only authorized people can use your devices
  • Allow users to release their print jobs at any Pharos-controlled device in the enterprise

With Secure Release Here, not only can you report on the number of pages that would have otherwise been printed and left in the tray as ‘waste’, but you gain insight into productivity by understanding how many print jobs and pages are being created by Budget Center, Building, Department Group, Location Group, Manager, Position and Employee and submitted but never printed.
