Fort Worth, TX — Thursday, November 07, 2013: ECi Software Solutions (www.ECiSolutions.com), a leader in industry-specific information technology solutions, today announced that the Canadian Intellectual Property Office has awarded it a patent for 
its industry-leading FMAudit Managed Print Services (MPS) technology. Canadian Patent No. 2,615,438 for FMAudit’s “Status Monitoring System and Method” was issued on August 13, 2013.
The invention is in the field of data collection and digital repositories for printing and imaging devices. The patent covers much of the technology found throughout today’s FMAudit suite of products, including Central, Onsite, WebAudit, and Agent. This 
achievement comes just a few months after FMAudit eclipsed 4.2 million monitored devices, making it the worldwide leader in device management based on number of devices monitored.
“When Greg Allen and I founded FMAudit in 2004, we knew that some of the things we were working on were very special and wanted to protect that,” said Kevin Tetu, President of FMAudit and the inventor of the inventions covered under the patent. “Innovation and intellectual property have always formed a valuable part of the FMAudit business. It took a lot of work to get the technology to this point, and this patent demonstrates the unique value of the FMAudit products to office equipment dealers.”
The invention covers a method and system for collecting information from several printing devices, storing the records in a digital repository and delivering readable materials for 
analysis. The goal was to provide end users with the ability to click a link or download the application from a portable external storage device (USB key) and aggregate data such as meters, toner and ink levels that is collected from both network and local copiers and printers. The same patent is pending in the United States.
