With or without an antenna

Depending on the conditions and requirements of your project, devices with or without an antenna may be suitable. The criteria to be considered include specifics of the installation space and the surrounding area of the reader antenna, as well as factors related to transponder geometry and security aspects.

As a rule, devices with antennas can immediately read all transponders; in other words, they are quickly ready for use. Reader modules without antennas require a motherboard to provide the energy supply and data communication as well as to enable the use of the reader antenna. The antenna must be installed directly on the motherboard or connected with a cable from its detached position.
