Lots more news coming out at the moment. Coincidental that Graph EXPO is going on right now? Here’s something from Kodak about their Prosper Platform.

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Monday, Sept. 14 — Kodak (NYSE: KODK) customers are implementing its award-winning KODAK PROSPER Press Platform to enable their transformation from offset to digital inkjet printing. Kodak’s continued focus on developing innovative inkjet technology has delivered a strong breadth of applications and exciting customer wins across all regions. Through Q2 of 2015, the KODAK PROSPER Press Platform portfolio has achieved significant year over year growth in press placements.

Until recently, inkjet capabilities have been limited, confining business models and forcing print service providers to make compromises. Kodak is the only digital inkjet provider that has expertise and intellectual property born out of offset legacy. With continued pipeline growth, significant investments in research and development and more customers available to share their experience with KODAK PROSPER Presses, Kodak expects the balance of 2015 and 2016 to be another year of continued success.

On Sunday, Sept. 13 at GRAPH EXPO 15, the KODAK PROSPER 6000 Presses received an InterTech™ Technology Award during the Printing Industries of America (PIA) 2015 Premier Print Awards Gala. From book publishing to commercial printing to newspapers, the KODAK PROSPER 6000 Presses allow print service providers to operate with more agility and seamlessly adapt to the changing demands of the business and its customers.

Strategic Partnerships

Kruger Publication Papers Inc. is a major producer of publication papers, whose products are sold around the world.  It is also a leader in paper and paperboard recycling in North America. A joint venture between Kruger and Kodak is bringing the first true, lightweight coated paper to market for digital inkjet production. Prior to that, certain applications had been out of reach of digital production due to limitations in paper and printing technology. Kodak selected the type of inkjet treatment to be placed in the paper as well as managed the testing environment and feedback during production. It also shared application knowledge that helped determine which paper type to develop first. The collaboration brings lightweight coated paper to market for catalog and retail flyer applications, removing the paper barrier and facilitating the migration from offset to digital inkjet printing. Kruger’s new Krujet paper has received the ‘Four Diamond’ Paper Rating from Kodak.

Customer Quotes

“We’ve reached a major milestone with Kodak’s digital technology by being able to bring the production of our inserts in house for the first time without acquiring daunting costs,” said Richard Masotta, VP of Operations, The Boston Globe. “As most people know, the print business can be extremely competitive, often times yielding narrow profit margins. By implementing digital printing technology, we can better differentiate ourselves in the market and benefit from stronger attachments to consumers through micro-zoning and better target marketing, which all leads to a stronger vantage point for our customers.”

Partnership Quotes

“The print industry is embarking on a paradigm shift and we at Kruger are very grateful to be among the agents of change,” said Balazs Tolnai, General Manager of Technology, Kruger Inc., Industrial Products Division. “Our transition from offset to inkjet creates new business opportunities that before were not possible due to quality, productivity and economic challenges. Kodak not only helped make that transition smooth and successful, but also offered an invaluable learning experience that we will be able to turn into endless options for our customers.”
