Screen Shot 2013-12-20 at 2.22.38 PMHewlett-Packard’s global scope and scale make security a daily challenge. In an increasingly digital economy, HP continues to grow and transform as a digital business. As the SVP & GM of HP Enterprise Security Products (ESP), I am always looking for ways to protect our business and disrupt the adversary marketplace.

mpsEye_animGIF_300x250_UKIt is in this online marketplace that today’s cyber criminals work together to develop new ways to attack our organization and exploit security vulnerabilities. As this criminal community grows, so does the likelihood of digital attacks designed to steal data, cripple networks, damage brands and perform a host of other malicious activities.

Screen Shot 2013-12-23 at 12.26.21 PMSecurity is “business critical” for HP, which is why HP IT uses our own HP ESP solutions to meet the demands of this rapidly changing and more dangerous digital world. We understand that security is a 24/7 business and have created a number of security solutions that help protect HP’s network and properties on a global scale:

  • HP ArcSight is a key component of our Security Operations Centers, where our analysts continuously evaluate security events.
  • HP TippingPoint extends security from the core of our network to the very edge including now protecting our users and their interactions with applications.
  • HP Threat Central enables my colleagues and our HP customers to share intelligence on the latest threats in their communities in an anonymous and automated way. This improves our collective security posture across regions and technologies like cloud, mobile and social.
  • HP Fortify provides the capability necessary for building more secure applications.  Applications that we use internally, but also the software and tools we deliver to our customers.

It is HP’s proactive, preemptive and predictive approach to security that helps us protect our clients and our own business. Over a recent 30-day period, we prevented more than 100 million threats to our commercial web presence, corporate internet infrastructure (email and VPN) and our intellectual property.

I encourage you to watch the video below to learn more from HP’s CIO Ramón Baez on why HP uses its own security solutions.
