Xerox Corp. is planning to auction off 239 patents and hopes to make millions of dollars from the sale.

The Norwalk, Conn.-based company has hired ICAP Patent Brokerage to handle the auction of the patents that cover 26 technological fields.

Bidding will take place between July 24 and 29. The patents were the result of research projects at Xerox’s five global research centers, including the Xerox Research Center in Webster. About a quarter of the patents being sold were the result of research at the Webster facility, said Xerox spokesperson Bill McKee.
