By Andy Slawetsky – After a few years’ hiatus, the Elatec Oktoberfest Workshop in Munich returned! Elatec, a leading RFID vendor in the office technology space had hosted this event annually until Oktoberfest was put on hold because of COVID.

With 90 seats waiting for us just a few miles away in Munich, Elatec guests gathered in Pucheim for a few hours of company and industry briefings.

Elatec RFID partners traveled from dozens of countries from across the globe for this one-day program, the farthest coming from India and China.

This was the first year that partner ACDI of Little Rock AR attended the annual conference and they were there in force as the team of Josh Lane, Mark Hart, Maggie Hartlage and Greg O’Briant were all on hand.

Presentations ranged from a wide variety of verticals that Elatec has invested in, most of which have nothing to do with print.

Topics ranged from future cities, elevators, EV charging stations and more during the morning and afternoon sessions.

At one point during the day I had the privilege to interview Elatec US CEO Paul Massey, Josh and Mark to discuss the partnership and where it’s going. Stay tuned for parts one and two!

Once the sessions wrapped up, it was time for lederhosen.

As a celebration of their heritage and local traditions, Elatec loves bringing their partners to Munich to share in this amazing event.

The night involved plenty of singing, selfies and of course the famous Oktoberfest beer.

There may be no better social event on earth than Oktoberfest!

As if the Oktoberfest wasn’t enough, Elatec always hosts an afterparty at a proper Munich disco. A few quick pictures and it was time to head home for an early flight.

Elatec has grown considerably since I began covering them a little over five years ago when the small RFID company was almost exclusively focused on the printer industry.

As they have moved into new vertical markets they have also expanded their reach by moving into new physical markets, like the opening of their first office in China in 2018 for example. Elatec now has people virtually everywhere. The growth has been quite staggering.

Improving on their own technology, bringing manufacturing to the US and a series of small acquisitions have Elatec well-positions to tackle these new industries they’re moving into.
