MARSHFIELD, MA, ISSUED JUNE 23, 2023…Systems Support Corporation,  a  South Shore-based Managed Services (IT) firm serving the region since 1989, has a new owner.

Brian MacFee, who with his brother Willie founded Systems Support in 1989, announced the change of ownership in the company. Brian’s son, William (Will) MacFee, is the new owner, following the successful conclusion of a business transition plan that they had worked on over the last several years. Will MacFee is new in the role of owner, but he is no stranger to the company. He joined the family business in 2016 and has played a key role in the company’s growth over these last seven years.

In its early days, Systems Support was located at 396 Libbey Parkway in Weymouth; since 2000, the company has maintained office at 462 Plain Street, Marshfield.

Will MacFee will lead a team of seven people as the company continues in its mission of helping small businesses navigate the pitfalls of technology. “We’re here to make sure that disaster doesn’t strike, and we work with all our clients to be sure that their information and their systems are secure.” He continued, “If there is still anyone out there who does not believe how big of a problem cyber crime is, North Korea, for example, makes more than half its entire income in cyber crime.”

Systems Support (SSC) specializes in remote Managed IT services. The company’s clientele includes professional service organizations, insurance brokers, dermatologists, dispensaries, funeral homes, construction companies, dentists, transportation businesses, physical security, accountants, and a number of non profits.

Prior to joining Systems Support, MacFee worked in the field of nuclear engineering, having earned his degree from North Carolina State University in Raleigh. He interned at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant in Plymouth and also at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in Washington D.C. Upon graduation, he worked at the NRC for two years; while in school, he also earned a Reactor Operator License and operated the reactor at North Carolina State.

When the fortunes of the nuclear industry declined, he returned to Massachusetts and made a career switch, joining the family business in 2016.

“I want to thank my parents, Brian and Cathy, for showing me the ropes and their support before and during this transition. It’s been interesting and fun to work in a family business for these last seven years and now have the privilege to lead it.” During his years at SSC before taking the reins of ownership, he had worn many hats, including business development and sales.

Brian MacFee, founder and father of the new owner, said, “Cathy and I are both very proud of the work that Will has done over the last seven years. He has been an integral part of our company’s growth, and we have the highest level of confidence that he will have great success in carrying the company forward.”

Will MacFee’s plans for the company include expanding the marketing efforts through networking and marketing outreach efforts, and he hopes to add a few more technicians to the team.

We understand that our talented team is our greatest asset, and we place a high value on the team we have built; I understand that owning a business is a privilege and I look forward to continuing to build on the strong foundation that my parents, Brian and Cathy, have established.”

MacFee and his wife, Brooke, live in Pembroke. In his spare time, he enjoys playing the guitar and bass, home brewing, and hiking. He plans to hike Mt. Katahdin in Maine later this year.
