Increased robustness of secure printing across locations

  • Expanding the location concept
  • Automatic export of accounting data

uniFLOW Online’s latest release improves its secure printing capabilities for users working in various locations. To make the right devices available to the user, uniFLOW Online could already automatically detect from which location a user was printing. This release provides additional failover mechanisms to determine the correct place, improving the system’s robustness. On top, the accounting capabilities of uniFLOW Online have been extended with an automatic export of accounting data to various cloud storage systems.

Expanding the location concept

Until now, uniFLOW Online could automatically detect the location a user was printing from, which is beneficial for users traveling between different locations. Whenever this was not possible, e.g. due to an unknown network environment, the suitable printers could not be made available to the end-user. A default location can now be set to whom one connects automatically once a location cannot be determined. As an alternative, a manual location selection can be presented to users. If the automatic location detection fails for whatever reason, users can select their location from a list themselves. The location concept, combined with the built-in failover mechanisms, provides customers with a flexible print infrastructure that can be rolled out over various locations.

Automatic export of accounting data

Since its initial launch back in 2016, uniFLOW Online can accurately track all print, copy, and scan activities from customers worldwide. All data can be visualized using various built-in reports, and the accounting data can be manually exported on the fly. With this latest release, a new automatic report export mechanism allows the automatic export of accounting data on a regular interval into various cloud storage systems, including Box and Microsoft OneDrive for Business. After saving, the data can be stored for long-time archiving or picked up by data analysis tools such as Microsoft Power BI for further analysis.

Microsoft OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Power BI are either registered trademarks or trademarks of Microsoft Corporation and of the Microsoft group of companies in the United States and/or other countries.
