BrotherThe following appears on PCMag.com

In this month’s PCMag Readers’ Choice survey, we asked you to rate your satisfaction with the printers you use. We asked how satisfied you were overall with your printers, but we also to consider your satisfaction on several aspects related to overall satisfaction including setup, reliability, technical support, and repairs. In addition, we asked if you used the printer manufacturer’s own inks or toner or if you used third-party consumables and how satisfied you were with the cost of the consumables and their output quality.

As we’ve seen in the past, there appears to be a correlation between satisfaction with the cost of the printer company’s consumables and satisfaction with the product overall. Bear in mind, no one is ecstatic about what they pay for their consumables—users rarely give very high ratings on cost-related satisfaction questions—but there’s a distinct difference between a satisfaction rating of 6.4 on our scale from 0 (extremely dissatisfied) to 10 (extremely satisfied) and a rating of 5.0. Not surprisingly, the company that received the 6.4 rating on consumables also received a higher average overall satisfaction rating from our respondents.
