That’s a line we hear all the time. It often comes with a shrug and a hint of pride. And yes, there’s pride in building a business that lasts. But what happens when the people who kept it running retire? When spreadsheets don’t update correctly? When the shop floor bottlenecks because only one person knows how to schedule work?

One of the most eye-opening quotes from our internal survey came from a rep relaying a common scenario:

“Our system has worked for 30 years, but the people who built it are retiring. How do we pass that knowledge on?”
