Marco has hired Doug Albregts as their new President effective Oct. 1.

Marco is one of the biggest, if not the biggest imaging dealer in our industry and Albregts brings a wealth of information to the company from his years as Sharp President and CEO as well as time with Samsung.

Marco and Albregts wanted to hold this story until after the Sharp dealer conference, occurring now in Las Vegas, but the news has slipped and you can’t unring the bell.

I had the pleasure of speaking to Doug who told me that his brief time away from the industry when he left Sharp made him realize how much he missed it. He loves the people, the technology and the companies.

Reporting to Jeff Gau, Doug looks to be in line for the CEO spot if and when Jeff decides to move on. It’s a great move to prepare for the future and as Marco grows towards a billion dollar company, Doug’s experience will become even more critical.

Doug went on to say, “Marco is the darling of the industry. I’m at the point of my career where I still have a lot to offer and Marco provides me with the opportunity to join one of the best organizations in the business.”

This is truly a huge move by Marco, scooping up an executive that was very well liked in his time at Sharp. His knowledge of the inner workings of the vendors Marco works with seems to make him a perfect hire.
