On Day 8, The Ride for Jillian started out with a visit to Cobb and their beautiful new offices.

The biggest crowd of the trip (next to Rolling Thunder) was waiting for us in the parting log with breakfast, coffee and lots of welcoming people.

We had a tour of the new facility, including a walk through of their warehouse – one of the biggest I’ve seen at a dealership!

From there we rode over to Stones Office Equipment (SOE) where we had another large crowd waiting for us outside.

Sam Stone welcomed us and introduced us to some Virginia State Troopers who where there to meet us and pick up a donation Sam had made to them. Two donations in one day for Sam!

The troopers told us how they carry stuffed animals in the trunks of their cruisers in case they come across a situation involving young children. As soon as they give the child the stuffed toy it often diffuses the situation and helps the child calm down.

A symbol of The Jillian Fund is the purple elephant you have seen in many of the photos I’ve posted. A box of these elephants were donated to the VA troopers and more will be sent. Another way Jillian has helped children in their time of need.

Larry Coco, another sponsor of The Ride for Jillian surprised us at SOE. Larry was there doing some sale rep training and presented Mike with a necklace that belonged to his daughter, lost at 17. The necklace was to bring us luck on the ride and it did. Incredible.

After Stones, our pack headed up the road to Washington DC. Traffic was fierce but we made it. Jim D’Emidio was with us all day and Muratec took the whole exhausted crew out for a nice DC dinner!
