Cleveland, Ohio – November 12, 2015 – Blue Technologies President Paul Hanna was honored this past Tuesday as a recipient of the 11th Annual Our Lady of the Wayside Starlight Guardian Humanitarian Award, presented by The Shamrock Companies at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven.

“This award was very special to receive,” says Hanna. “While my preference is to have a low profile – and there are far more deserving people than me out there – I’m happy to know the luncheon was a success, with Our Lady of the Wayside hitting their program goal. It’s just a great organization that does so much good for children and adults in need in our community.”

The Starlight benefit – which also recognized fellow recipient Bill Wills, WTAM morning show host – raised $448,650 to benefit The Wayside, which provides enriching services to more than 600 individuals with developmental disabilities in more than 70 neighborhood homes in Cuyahoga, Lake, Lorain and Medina counties. The funds raised will support the organization’s Transportation Program, which The Wayside says enables their consumers to participate in their communities and realize individual goals, leading to increased self-confidence and greater independence.

Inaugurated in 2005, The Wayside created the Starlight Guardian Humanitarian Award to recognize those who embrace the spirit of giving. Recipients are chosen based on demonstrated devotion to creating opportunities for enhanced quality for many.

“(Paul is) someone who is very generous and who has a soft spot in his heart for children,” says Rich Frank, president and CEO of OhioGuidestone, Blue’s corporate charity of choice. “He’s fostered a really great staff who are also as philanthropic, I think, as he is. … I can’t think of anyone more worthy than (Paul) to receive a humanitarian award.”

In addition to enjoying lunch and a live auction, attendees of the Starlight benefit viewed videos dedicated to each honoree demonstrating their commitment to philanthropy and community.

“On behalf of the Blue Technologies family, we are so proud Paul has been chosen to receive the 2015 Starlight Guardian Humanitarian Award,” says Beth Palamara, Director of Communications at Blue Technologies.
