HP is to axe the jobs of hundreds of UK staff before May.
National officer for IT and communications for trade union Unite, Ian Tonks, told The Channel Register that 782 UK staff were to be made redundant before the end of HP’s Q2 2014, which finishes on April 30th.
Another 7,100 jobs are due to be lost throughout Europe before the end of the PC firm’s financial year in October.
Of the British workers due to be axed, more than 300 are expected to come from the enterprise-focused Infrastructure Technology Outsourcing (ITO) arm of the company, according to an apparent leaked staff message.
“It is expected that up to 329 positions within the ITO UK and Ireland organisation will be impacted through workforce management (WFM) during Q2 FY14,” Maurice Mattholie, VP for ITO services in UK and Ireland, stated in the memo.
