Kennesaw, Ga. June 22, 2018 – Japs Olson of St. Louis Park, Minnesota, is reaping the benefits of its newly installed Speedmaster XL 106-6+LYY-P-6+L from Heidelberg. With the XL 106 LPL (Print, Coat, Perfect, Print, Coat) configuration, Japs Olson has seen increased efficiency and faster makeready times thanks to its ability to coat both sides of a job in a single pass at maximum speeds.

High Quality Color on Both Sides

Replacing the older Speedmaster SM 102 at Japs Olson, the Speedmaster XL 106 has already made a huge impact in increased productivity only 2 months after installation. With maximum production speeds of up to 15,000 sheets per hour, the peak performance press can handle a wide range of substrates from 27 lb. offset to 32 pt. board.

“Our customers require high quality products with lots of colors,” said Bob Murphy, Chairman and CEO of Japs Olson. “The XL 106 is exciting because it’s a 12-color press and allows us to print on both sides. Our customers are now receiving their beloved colorful pieces with industry-leading quality at an incredible speed.”

Not only do the customers at Japs Olson love the quality they are receiving, but the operators of the XL 106 at Japs Olson are impressed by the ease of operation. Equipped with the latest Push-to-Stop technology, the Speedmaster’s jobs are autonomously changed over without operator intervention and will continue to print until the operator interrupts it or until Intellistart 2 informs the operator of the next steps required of them— like a navigated approach saving valuable time. The Push-to-Stop technology is only possible with Intellistart 2, a unique integrated software system for effective job preparation. This software system uses live production information about the current job on press, aligns, and then carries out the task in order to reduce operator steps and level out the skill level amongst various operators to achieve the same results.

“Running conventional ink with 6 colors and Aqueous Coating on both sides of the sheet, all in a single pass, proves the Speedmaster XL 106 perfecting technology is in a league of its own,” said Clarence Penge, VP Sheetfed Product
Management of Heidelberg.

Saphira Coating— The Leader in Coating
Alongside the XL 106, Japs Olson also has Prinect worklow, a Speedmaster XL 105-12+P+L with Inpress Control, a Versafire digital press, Stahlfolders, and POLAR cutters. The company also chooses to use a wide range of Saphira consumables including press chemistry, wash-up cloths, and coating.

“In order to have great quality and efficiency, it’s important to have the best coating possible,” said Murphy. “We consider Heidelberg as a leader in coating. Beyond coating, we can always depend upon Heidelberg whether its workflow, equipment, or service. We know we will always get the best.”
