Canon Helps Dealers Expand Business through Innovative Technology

MELVILLE, N.Y., February 5, 2019 – Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced that Copiers Northwest, a provider of office technology products and services, has reported more than 300 percent growth in large format print volume since the installation of the Océ Colorado 1640 printer this past summer. A leader in office automation and managed print services in the Pacific Northwest, Copiers Northwest has served businesses throughout the region for more than 25 years.

“The Holy Grail in printing is to do something high quality, at a high speed, at a low cost,” said Mark Petrie, CEO of Copiers Northwest. “And historically in this marketplace, we were limited to offering two of three. The Océ Colorado 1640 gives us the opportunity to deliver all three. We have high quality, high speed, and the ability to drive that at 40 percent lower operating cost. In fact, over the first four months, the machine has nearly paid for itself.”

“Since the beginning, Copiers Northwest has been committed to providing innovative programs, flexible systems, and the guarantee that our customers’ offices will operate more efficiently and cost-effectively,” said Mr. Petrie. “I believe we’ve been able to sustain and grow our business for so many years by continually investing in the people, products, and technology that help our customers be more competitive and achieve their business objectives.”

Copiers Northwest was looking for ways to better serve their customers and grow the large format area of their business. Said Eric Watson, Production/Operator, Copiers Northwest, “The Océ Colorado 1640 has allowed us to dramatically expand our product offering. We’ve grown our large format print volume by more than 300 percent over the last four months. We attribute much of that to the Océ Colorado 1640, with its innovative features, easy operation, and UVgel technology.”

Canon UVgel technology allows the Océ Colorado 1640 printer to quickly output high-quality, instantly dry prints, which has been a huge productivity gain for the company. Further, because of the Océ Colorado 1640’s Greenguard certification, Copiers Northwest does not need to laminate prints, helping to save on both outgassing time experienced with eco-solvent printers, as well as the extra time and labor to laminate.

Said Mr. Watson, “The wide range of time and energy-saving applications the Océ Colorado 1640 delivers is a key benefit. The automatic maintenance feature, in particular, has made a huge impact. In the printing industry, there’s extensive equipment maintenance and cleaning required. With the Océ Colorado 1640, that’s covered. And the press is very easy to operate. It can run unattended once we queue up a print job, allowing us to focus on other tasks.”

“Copiers Northwest has always provided their clients with “best in class” solutions and we are proud that the Océ Colorado 1640 printer is part of this,” says Shinichi Yoshida, executive vice president and general manager, Canon U.S.A., Inc. “We’re thrilled that the Océ Colorado 1640 printer has helped drive more business and profitability for Copiers Northwest in just a few months due to the trifecta of faster printing speed, great quality and lower operating costs.”
