MELVILLE, N.Y., Feb. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Canon Solutions America, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon U.S.A., Inc., today announced that longtime print customer, Thomas Printworks, has added to its robust Canon fleet with an installation of the Océ VarioPrint i300 sheet-fed inkjet press. This installation marks the company’s first leap into small-format production inkjet technologies with the support of Canon Solutions America’s Production Print Solutions division.

Since 1956, Thomas Printworks has stayed at the forefront of the ever-shifting commercial print industry with a commitment to building impactful relationships with its customers and embracing new and emerging technologies. Because of their commitment to providing quality service and support, Thomas Printworks is a recognized name in the industry with locations in Dallas (headquarters), Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami metropolitan areas.

From its inception, Thomas Printworks has focused on maintaining its position as a leading choice among the A/E/C industry for commercial printing needs. However, over the past twenty-five years the company has grown its customer base with a focus on expanding services and technology offerings. Most recently supporting comprehensive jobs around mailing services, letters, and cross-media marketing, Thomas Printworks once more upped the quality of its output and profile by adding the Océ VarioPrint i300. Since installation, the company now runs everything from variable data printing to short-run versioning, and is doing so at unprecedented speeds.

Perhaps most exciting for Thomas Printworks is the fact that the Océ VarioPrint i300 sheet-fed press is allowing it to experience new growth applications. Since installation, it has helped them increase flexibility, expand application mix, allow for more diverse digital work, and leverage inkjet versatility for the print leader. Bridging the gap between the application flexibility and efficiency of sheet-fed presses and the economy of web-fed systems, the VarioPrint i300 has also helped enable Thomas Printworks to reduce labor-intensive offset operations while “improving operational efficiencies, time to market, and quality.”

“Essentially what the i300 has allowed us to do is expand our operational efficiencies and support our ability to offer our customers more dynamic application options,” said Bryan Thomas, CEO and President, Thomas Printworks.  “Additionally, our inkjet investment frees up extensive labor costs which in turn creates more value add work, along with providing us the ability to eliminate the need for pre-printed stocks, and freeing up time to manage and move inventory at a faster rate. All of this once more gives our company operational benefits that will lead to new levels of efficiencies across the organization.”

Transcending the recent acquisition of the VarioPrint i300 is the longstanding relationship and valued collaboration that exists between Canon Solutions America and Thomas Printworks. Utilizing everything from large format printers like the Océ Arizona to Canon’s heralded inkjet technologies, the relationship is built on trust and a commitment to helping one another push the industry forward.

“Our commitment is to helping customers run faster and more efficiently but with the promise that we’ll be with them every step of the way,” said Francis McMahon, executive vice president, Production Print Solutions, Canon Solutions America. “Thomas Printworks is a household name in this industry, and we’re proud to be a part of their new inkjet journey and to help support what is already an industry-leading organization.”
