By Andy Slawetsky – Global Office Inc. opened their doors just as the Pandemic began. Most companies would understandably struggle and possibly fail in the face of such adversity, but Global Office Inc. didn’t just survive, they’ve thrived. No alternative text description for this imageWith offices in San Francisco and another recently opened in the UK, this Canon Brother dealer is part of a new breed of office equipment resellers who aren’t quite ready to say print is dead.IMG_1271On December 8, Global Office held their holiday gala in the heart of San Francisco. As most of you reading this can appreciate, getting people to come to an event held by a copier company can be challenging. Maybe it was the location, or maybe it’s the fact that people want to get out and socialize right now, but there were over 400 confirmed for this sold out event and the venue was packed! IMG_1305Out of respect for their customer list I can’t tell you who was there outside of the panel, but the names were huge. This is where Silicon Valley is located and there is no shortage of household brands in this market.

Covering topics around COVID and hiring, HR in today’s remote work environment and more, the discussion panel was held at the end of the cocktail party with representatives from Peloton, Adobe, VMWare and the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce discussing issues they’re now facing. It was fantastic.IMG_1300I thought it was interesting that this copier company never discussed office equipment at all throughout the evening. In fact, the closest they got to it was having event attendees sign in and print their name badges on the equipment provided by their partner, Brother.IMG_1306Global Office Inc., led by Anthony Bishop bills themselves as “a California company with a global reach.”IMG_1268Like many Bay Area companies, Global Office Inc. works hard on their sustainability efforts and messaging. Whether it’s fighting hunger in the Bay Area or running a fully hybrid vehicle fleet or their tree planting initiatives, these guys give back and are trying to make a difference, not just in their business plan, but also in their community. Even their Gala included a fundraiser and auction to benefit a local charity.IMG_1263With so much consolidation in this industry and the overall number of office equipment dealers declining, it’s exciting to see a new reseller open and thrive as Global Office Inc. has done.
