(Zhuhai, China, December 12, 2017) At the RT World Imaging Virtual Conference on January 10-11, 2018, Lexmark research scientist Dr. Dinesh Tyagi will introduce the selection criteria for toner components, including how these requirements are continuously guided by environmental, governmental and health regulations. He will also discuss new toner developments, such as low energy requirements, “green” toners comprising of bio-resins and toner and print recyclability.

Toners play a critical role in the electrophotographic process. Many toner properties are affected by composition and the manufacturing process. According to Transparency Market Research, the global printing toner market is expected to be worth US$4.3 billion by 2020 having witnessed a 5.8% annual compound growth rate during the 2014-2020 period. Further, chemically prepared toners are predicted to emerge as significant contributors to the global printing toner market.

Dr. Tyagi, who has been granted over 300 patents worldwide, received his Ph.D. degree from Virginia Tech in 1985; joined the Eastman Kodak Company as a research scientist where he specialized in digital printing and polymer research; and, was inducted into Kodak’s Distinguished Inventors Gallery in 1994.

Dr. Tyagi recently joined Lexmark International where he continues to work with toners and electrophotography. In 2011, he was awarded the Chester F Carlson Award for his innovations and broad contributions to electrophotographic toner technology. In 2014, Dr. Tyagi received the Robert F Reed Technology Medal in recognition of his involvement in the graphic communications industry.

Industry experts from the USA, Germany, Japan and China will also gather on January 10-11, 2018, at the World Imaging Virtual Conference. They will share their insights with a global audience online about the technical and legal trends surrounding toners, chips and printer cartridges.
