By Andy Slawetsky – HP will be holding their Power of Print analyst event January 22 – 23 in Palo Alto CA.

The last HP Power of Print event that we attended was in June 2017. At that event, we saw the latest in HP technology and were also treated to a visit to “The Garage,” the small building on the property of Bill Hewlett’s home where he and Dave Packard fiddled with their Model 200A Audio Oscillator before launching one of the most influencial print companies in history.

HP has a lot going on these days, with a noticiable increase in their presence in the traditional copier imaging dealer channel, a new CEO Enrique Lores who replaced Dion Wessler after he announced his sudden retirement in August and an ongoing battle for their very survival with Xerox who is in the midst of challenging them with a hostile takeover. At the time of this article, HP had just turned down the most recent Xerox offer.

The last time we came to this event, we saw a lot with respect to ink, both in terms of technology demonstrations provided by “chief inkologist Tom Brown,” to practical demonstrations of the A4 and A3 PageWide products using this very ink given to us by executive David Laing.

Watch my twitter feed this week to see what I’m seeing at HP! I assure you, it’s going to be good. They’re not bringing us all out there to see our pretty faces.
