Award Brings Further Affirmation of Epson’s Sustainability Efforts

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. – Nov. 7, 2022 – Epson has won this year’s DataMaster Lab GREEN Award in recognition of the environmental benefits afforded by all its inkjet printers and MFPs, powered by PrecisionCore Heat-Free® technology, and the sustainability measures employed as part of their development, production and distribution. DataMaster is an independent European laboratory and an expert in professional document imaging solutions.

“Aligning with Epson’s dedication to developing sustainable technologies, DataMaster Lab recognizes the importance of decreasing energy use to reduce the adverse effects on the environment,” said Elliot Williams, director of product management, Business Imaging, Epson America, Inc. “Our MFPs engineered with PrecisionCore Heat-Free technology provide positive benefits. The WorkForce® Enterprise lineup offers the lowest power consumption in their class1 and fast printing speeds with practically no warm-up time. Requiring minimal intervention with few maintenance parts, it is designed to help minimize waste.”

DataMaster Lab analyzed Epson MFPs with PrecisionCore Heat-Free technology and found them to have low energy consumption, long consumable lifetimes and their small carbon footprint.

This Award is not just about electrical consumption. Edward Bilson, Technical Director of DataMaster Lab said, “We take into account accreditations for manufacturing facilities, levels of noxious emissions – and the nature and lifetime of a machine’s consumables. When you consider the carbon footprint of a consumable item’s manufacture, transportation, distribution, and its final resting place in a landfill site, you realize that all consumables need to be designed with the environment in mind, and have the longest lifetime possible. The winners of DataMaster Lab’s GREEN Award have the least impact on our precious environment.”

Since 2018 Epson has invested considerably into the development of its PrecisionCore® printhead, and last year it committed to investing 100 billion Yen into further developing sustainable technologies, decarbonization and resource recycling. It also committed to becoming underground resource free by 2050. Epson will continue to progress development that both improves product performance for its customers and reduces the impact on the world.
