Versace to Speak on the Importance of “The Photographic Print”

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. – Nov. 1, 2022 – Committed to supporting photographic printmaking, Epson today announced it will be sponsoring professional photographer Vincent Versace at the upcoming OPTIC West event from Nov. 6-7 in Monterey, Calif. Speaking at the event on Nov. 7, Versace’s presentation “Believing Is Seeing” will discuss the importance of the photographic print and include a small gallery of prints that will be circulated through the audience. Versace will be giving away a letter size print of his renowned “Cuba Blue” image for those attending his session.

A recognized pioneer in the art and science of digital photography, Versace is considered one of the top photography artists and visual storytellers of this era. “I am a strong believer that the photographic print matters – and in fact makes one a better photographer,” said Versace. “There is nothing quite as special as viewing a print to truly experience your image. I look forward to sharing my work and my passion at OPTIC West.”

The OPTIC West conference is hosted by B&H Photo and will be in Monterey on California’s coast for the first time. Featuring two days of presentations, a trade expo, photo critiques and contests, and a whale watching mini photo expedition, the event is designed for lovers of the wildlife, travel and landscape genres. For those who can’t join OPTIC West in-person, live streaming options will be available.

“Epson is honored that many of world’s greatest photographers rely on our printing technology and continue to choose Epson because their reputation is on the line with every print,” said Dano Steinhardt, marketing, Professional Imaging, Epson America, Inc. “Versace’s presentation will demonstrate the benefits and beauty of producing photographic prints, and how the print allows viewers to experience what the photographer intended.”

Versace will be presenting on Monday, Nov. 7 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. PT on the Explorer Stage. Versace is a recipient of the Computerworld Smithsonian Award in Media Arts & Entertainment, the Palm Beach Photographic Centre’s Photo Mentor and the Shellenberg fine art award. His work is part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution’s Museum of American History.
