What’s POA Doing in Florida?

Pacific Office Automation (POA) took 150 of their top performers to Clearwater Beach, FL this past weekend as a reward for reaching their summer sales targets. Despite the Pandemic, this team helped POA grow in 2021 and for some reason, most of the men wore amazingly horrible mustaches at this swanky gulf coast hotel.

Major portions of the trip were sponsored by Konica Minolta and Sharp including the wolcome happy hour and dinner on the first night (KM) and the lobster brunch the following morning (Sharp).

Most of the 150 event attendees arrived from Portland, OR Friday morning on redeyes and by the time I arrived for dinner they had already settled the $13,000 bar tab that was eventually All Covered by one of their partners.

After the beach happy hour, we sat for the KM-sponsored dinner where POA President Doug Pitassi spoke before introducing Konica Minolta COO Sam Errigo who shared a few thoughts and a thank you before handing things back.

After dinner, the mass broke up and headed to several bars across the street.

The following morning, I headed over to the event location with Doug to watch him set up the Sharp banners for the lobster brunch that would soon be starting. Sharp sponsored this breakfast and it was a nice start to what would be a long day that included a pub crawl. The day would end with a dinner at a nearby restaurant for the massive crew.

The POA team would spend the rest of the weekend conducting team building exercises like a sand sculpture contest (I’m dying to see what these were going to look like) and more relaxation.

This is how the “POA Strong Team” rolls. Work hard, play hard. And it wasn’t even an annual sales quota that got them here, it was quarterly!

POA seems to set the bar when it comes to taking care of their people, but in this day and age, you have to in order to keep them.

Incidentally, POA is one of the world’s biggest office equipment resellers and they’re hiring in many locations as they fill jobs ranging from management to intern positions and everything in-between. If you thrive in a competitive environment and like a good income (several of these sales reps were earning over 7 figures), check out these openings.
