Joining an elite group of Midwest Printers going beyond compliance

MINNEAPOLIS, MN — October 3, 2022 — Printing Industry Midwest (PIM), a not-for-profit trade organization representing the Midwest’s leading print service providers, is pleased to announce CARDSource located in Eagan Minnesota has achieved Great Printer Certification. By achieving this certification CARDSource is committing to reduce their carbon footprint by choosing green options throughout the print process.

CARDSource has been connecting clients to customers for over 45 years. CARDSource is passionate about offering high-quality plastic card solutions to businesses and organizations that want to connect with their customers.

Ryan Murphy, CARDSource’s President said, “As CARDSource worked towards achieving the Great Printer Certification, we were encouraged when we discovered how much of the criteria was already part of our daily practices and much had previously been implemented into our systems.  This ultimately meant that while living our mission; To make a positive difference in the lives of our stakeholders both personally and professionally, our team had already paved paths in both environmentally sustainable practices and employee health and safety.  We are thankful to the PIM Organization for offering a program like this that encourages printers like us to reflect keenly on our impacts both environmentally and to our employees.”

It is an honor to add CARDSource to the list of certified Great Printers. The Great Printer Environmental Initiative Program has been in place at PIM for over 20 years and recognizes printers who exceed required mandates in compliance with all Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) rules, regulations and laws. Great Printers demonstrate their commitment to minimize their impact on human health and the environment while producing quality printed products.

The process of becoming a Great Printer includes a confidential comprehensive compliance audit to determine adherence to mandatory compliance standards. Next, the program examines any initiatives implemented that go beyond the requirements.

Cathy Malinowski, PIM Assistant Director of Safety & Environmental Services, explained “what impressed me about CARDSource is in addition to meeting all the audit requirements, they implemented an extensive safety audit program that corresponds with their monthly Safety Committee meetings.  They are also converting all of their lighting to LED thereby reducing their electricity consumption. In addition, they are moving towards a paperless manufacturing environment.”

There are currently 29 printers in the Midwest participating in the Great Printer program. For a complete list of certified Great Printers, please go to www.pimw.org/GreatPrinters/.
