Rolling Meadows, IL, August 2, 2022—Komori AmericaKomori announced today that Tennessee Industrial Printing, Inc., Jackson, Tennessee, has purchased a five-color, 40-inch Komori Lithrone G40 (GL540) advance with coater and LED-UV. The company is a full-service commercial printer with clients that range from local West Tennessee nonprofit agencies to international Fortune 500 companies. The company chose to replace one of its three Komori presses with the new GL540 advance to maintain its foothold in its markets and meet strategic growth objectives. Installed just seven months ago, Tennessee Industrial Printing reports the GL540 advance is cutting makeready time in half, reducing paper waste and significantly shortening delivery times.

Three key drivers in choosing the five-color GL40 advance were the addition of LED-UV, the impressive running speed of the press and its ability to accept a wide range of sheet thicknesses, from ultra-thin to thick sheets. “We are really excited about the benefits we are gaining from this press,” said Wayne Chambers, president of Tennessee Industrial Printing. “The addition of LED-UV makes it possible for the sheets to come off the press dry, ready to be sent to the bindery without delay. We don’t have to worry about scuffing or marking and we can apply dramatic special effects that include options like soft touch coating and strike through varnish, making applications unique. This savings in time, coupled with the speed of this press, are making a huge difference in our productivity.”

The company also reports it has been able to pick up business it wasn’t able to do previously, such as packaging applications, with the expanded capabilities the press delivers. The GL540 advance’s ability to handle a wide variety of substrates is allowing Tennessee Industrial Printing to produce applications on thicker substrates, such as 24-point board, for a new packaging client. “We began offering packaging applications due to one customer that wanted to give us more work if we could print on board. Now, packaging is where we are looking to expand in the future.”

“Solid partnerships are extremely important to all of us at Komori and we are pleased that the GL540 advance is providing a long-term partner like Tennessee Industrial Printing the ability to take advantage of the new opportunities in their market,” said Mark Milbourn, executive vice president at Komori America.
