Nationally-recognized Print Industry Leader Increases Production Capacity in the Midwest Market

Jefferson City, Missouri July 27, 2021– Modern Litho, a full-service magazine, catalog and commercial printer with national reach and headquartered in Jefferson City, Missouri, announces it will acquire the commercial printing division of Watkins Lithographic of North Kansas City, Missouri as of August 1, 2021. The acquisition increases production capacity and further enhances the company’s suite of services which include: digital and offset print, mailing, warehousing and fulfillment, and wide format services in the Kansas City and regional markets.

“After the successful acquisition of James Printing in 2018, we knew we wanted to expand our Kansas City footprint. Watkins Lithographic is a great fit in terms of their customer base, employee group, equipment, and facility. We will continue to build on the Watkins Litho tradition of serving their clients well and will look to make investments that will enhance that experience,” commented Darrell Moore, President of Modern Litho.

The flexo printing division of Watkins Lithographic, Inc. now renamed to Watkins Flexographic, Inc. will continue operations at its new location at 9760 Pomona Avenue, Kansas City, MO.

Modern Litho–Kansas City will immediately begin relocating employees, processes and select equipment to the former Watkins Litho facility at 133 W. 10th in North Kansas City. With the move expected to be complete by the end of August, the 76,000 sq. ft. production facility will become the new home of Modern Litho-Kansas City.
