Presenting a brand new award for the IT industry, PaperCut Software is giving one lucky sysadmin in the world a chance to win a brand new gaming laptop
1 July 2021, Melbourne, AUS – PaperCut is proud to present the world’s first ‘Sysadmin of the Year’ award.
With an application process starting 1 July and ending 23 July, the print management software company is asking workplaces around the world to nominate their sysadmin to be crowned 2021’s sysadmin of the year.
Timed to coincide with International Sysadmin Day, the winner will be announced live during a YouTube ceremony on 30 July.
Prizes include:
- global recognition as the first recipient of this new award
- a golden keyboard trophy
- a new Razer Blade gaming laptop valued at $4,499 AUD (RRP).
Nominees can also enter the weekly draw to win 1 of 40 limited edition Sysadmin Day t-shirts designed by PaperCut.
A history of sysadmin appreciation
PaperCut’s communications lead Alistair Nestor says, “As a print management company we talk to hundreds of sysadmins a week, and we appreciate firsthand the amazing work they do for countless businesses of all shapes and sizes. In fact, our company was co-founded by a former sysadmin.”
PaperCut CEO and co-founder Chris Dance — a former sysadmin himself — started PaperCut by coding software for tracking and controlling printing for his then workplace.
“That’s not the only reason we wanted to acknowledge these unsung heroes of modern working life,” Alistair continues.
“IT teams have always performed incredibly valuable work from behind the scenes. That’s been doubly the case during the Covid-19 pandemic. Sysadmins have shown up every day all over the globe, supporting schools and businesses during lockdown. Without them enabling hybrid and remote working, business and school life would have ground to a halt.”
How the award nominations work
Workplaces are asked to nominate their sysadmin by filling out the form here.
The nomination process includes providing an example of when your sysadmin exhibited one of the PaperCut values: Caring, Honest, Intelligent, and Nimble.
Nominators and nominees do not need to have purchased or used PaperCut software to enter or win.
