Microsoft’s Windows Protected Print (WPP) mode increases PC security but prevents the installation and use of V3/V4 printer drivers. With the release of uniFLOW 2025 LTS, users can now print from workstations that have enabled Windows Protected Print mode, including Windows 11 24H2 ARM64 PCs. Customers can now integrate print streams customized by the uniFLOW server into their cloud-based uniFLOW Online print infrastructure.

Supporting the future of print

With Windows Protected Print (WPP), Microsoft transforms how printing operates. Once enabled, WPP prevents installation of any V3/V4 printer drivers through point-and-print or manual setup. In addition, any existing V3 or V4 drivers will cease to function.

The existing uniFLOW AirPrint® & IPP Service has been extended to support printing from Windows 10 and 11 PCs using the Microsoft IPP Class Driver; users can now print from workstations that have enabled WPP mode, including Windows 11 24H2 ARM64 PCs. Connecting the Microsoft IPP Class Driver is easy and allows various finishing options to be implemented, e.g., simplex/duplex, color/black & white, stapling, and hole punching.

Upload of server jobs to uniFLOW Online

Customers have used uniFLOW servers for years to create print jobs from locally hosted systems such as SAP® or UNIX®. Using the workflow engine from the uniFLOW server, print jobs could be customized and then released at any device connected to the uniFLOW server. Gradually, customers have moved their print and scan infrastructure to the cloud and have deployed uniFLOW Online.

uniFLOW 2025 LTS enables print jobs to be uploaded from the uniFLOW server to uniFLOW Online. Print streams or ready-to-print jobs originating from local sources can be tailored by the Workflow Engine from the uniFLOW server. The result is a ready-to-print job that is automatically uploaded to uniFLOW Online. The end-user can then release the job on any device connected to uniFLOW Online. This allows customers to integrate and/or customize print streams originating from local sources into their cloud-based print infrastructure and then release print jobs using the modern print and scan experience of uniFLOW Online, even in a Zero Trust network.
