AI was everywhere at HIMSS25, dominating conversations and booth displays. During his keynote address, Harold Wolf, CEO of HIMSS, noted that nearly every booth was discussing AI at this year’s conference. Yet, he cautioned that implementing AI without a well-thought-out strategy often leads to additional costs and unnecessary processes rather than real value. Many companies are eager to market AI as a fix-all solution, but few have delivered on tangible, helpful products.

The challenges of AI adoption in healthcare are reminiscent of the long-standing struggle with interoperability. “Five years ago, we were talking about the challenges of ‘Interoperability,’ and many health systems are still working to address those challenges,” said Quinn Corey, Director of Business Development, “so how is AI going to help solve the problems that so many are asking for it to solve right away?”
