“We’re incredibly proud to have taken this step toward a greener future for the packaging industry.”
Óscar Sánchez, President & CEO
The manufacturing industry faces significant challenges, including the need to reduce CO2 emissions across the entire lifecycle, from product design to waste disposal, address supply chain instability caused by rising raw material costs, and implement greater automation in production processes. Despite these pressures, joint parts used to secure the opening and closing mechanisms of corrugated boxes for product transport have seen little innovation over the years. Yet, there remains considerable potential to enhance these components in terms of manufacturing automation, material efficiency, and transportation optimization.
Therefore, we have developed a joint part called “Karu Garu*3 Joint” that solves these problems by taking advantage of our in-house MFPs and printer parts design technology.
The award-winning “Karugaru Joint” contributed to efficiency in the packaging field by solving four issues: (1) reducing the force required for removal by allowing anyone to understand how to remove the joint, (2) reducing the space required for transport loading (67% less than conventional products), (3) supporting automation in assembly, and (4) reducing CO2 emissions in production and logistics.
“We are thrilled to be recognized by the World Packaging Organization for our innovative and sustainable Karugaru Joint,” says President and CEO of Kyocera Document Solutions America, Inc. Óscar Sánchez. “Kyocera’s commitment to environmental packaging and sustainable business practices is unwavering, and we’re incredibly proud to have taken this step toward a greener future for the packaging industry.”
