Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd will open the doors to its Client Engagement Centre (CEC) on Wednesday 29th January, to inspire and guide the next generation of print industry professionals.

Further education students (between the ages of 16 and 17) studying in schools and colleges local to the CEC in Houghton Regis in Bedfordshire will participate in a full day of activities. A highlight of the event will be a guided tour of the state-of-the-art CEC, as they follow the end-to-end process of creating an embellished chocolate box, with each step demonstrating the creativity, technology, and skill involved in modern print production.

“We want to show students who are at the early stages of thinking about their futures that the print industry is thriving, full of exciting opportunities and the perfect place for them to develop their talents and build a career for life.”

Jon Hiscock
Head of Production and Industrial Print at Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd

In addition, hearing Jon’s experiences during his more than 25-year career in the print industry, students will also have the chance to speak with newcomers to learn about their career paths. During a panel hosted by Rebecca Boulton, Account Based Marketing Manager at Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd, print professionals, all under 35, and from a range of backgrounds and specialisms will share how and why they began their careers in the print industry and offer advice to help others follow in their footsteps. The panel will include Rachel Lake, a Service Technician who completed a Konica Minolta apprenticeship; Gabby Solarek, an Account Manager at the Eight Group, who started out running machines and hand-filling mailpacks on the shop floor, as well as Alex Jordan and Lauren Bowers-Lee from Konica Minolta and Natalie Evans, the IPIA’s Membership Manager.

The event on Wednesday the 29th of January is being supported by Young People in Print (YPIP) and is the latest initiative to be hosted by Konica Minolta at its CEC, to help young people embark on a rewarding career in the UK print industry.  In October the company hosted Year 8 students from local schools for a Girls in Tech event to mark Ada Lovelace Day.

Gillian Nuttall, People and Culture ESG Partner at Konica Minolta Business Solutions (UK) Ltd said, “These events are important as part of our commitment to helping young people unleash their future potential, as well as continually supporting our local communities.”
